TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) Instructor:
TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) is an initiative to inspire, challenge and empower high school students to become the next generation of entrepreneurs, business, and community leaders. The program is run in 28 cities around the world. Seasoned entrepreneurs and mentors teach high school students a project-based curriculum that has a strong emphasis on design thinking and customer validation. The program runs throughout the school year and culminates in a State and Global Competition.
TYE Instructor Position Description:
We are looking for happy, energetic, and creative teachers that enjoy working with students from diverse backgrounds and socio-economic statuses. If you enjoy working with school aged youth and are an entrepreneur or business owner, please read on.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in instructor meetings, training sessions, and TYE steering committee meetings
- Teach along-side district teachers in high school classrooms in the Portland Metro area
- Work closely with the other TYE Instructors to understand the process, program planning, and curriculum
- Work closely with TiE Oregon Members Volunteers/Mentors
- Follow the TYE Curriculum that outlines the entrepreneur mind-set and successfully teaches how to start a business
- Communicate with multiple schools and TiE staff on calendaring and scheduling TYE sessions
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in teaching and/or business
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of ethics, integrity, diplomacy, and initiative
- Access to reliable transportation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work evenings/weekend when necessary
- Entrepreneur/business owner a plus
